Second Release v0.0.2.0


This is our second public release and we couldn't be happier to share all the new updates we have for you.

The difference is literally, night and day. In this build we have 2 available showcase rooms to run through, though they have been rebuilt from the ground up with lighting and furniture:

  • Patrolling NPCs (Contains butler, 2 guards, lighting system, power system)
  • Security Room (Contains 2 guards, security system, lighting system, power system)

What's different? (Changelog)

  • New special NPC character: Butler Wentworth Chambers
    • Intended to be the primary enemy/antagonist of our prototype
    • Right hand man for the notorious Mob Boss, Little Hoss
    • Does not have a firearm
    • Does have years of karate experience
    • Prefers to work alone
    • Refuses to revive downed guards, but will tell other guards to
    • Deals 100 damage per melee attack (Will one shot without armor)
    • Has a good ear for the players movements (Be sure to crouch around him)
    • Cannot be taken down (Will haunt you forever)
    • Takedown method for Butler planned for next release
  • Brand new NPC behavior and animation framework
  • Guards got nerfed (50% damage reduction, we felt it was unfair in events with multiple guards)

    • Weapon firing/reloading
    • Whistling
    • Light switch interactions
    • Door interactions
  • Doors were remade from the ground up to be less clunky and game breaking
  • Power system comes complete with
    • A power breaker where you can manipulate the power

    • Radios for guards to communicate amongst each other

      • Currently just colorblind accessibility is available
  • Cosmetic Changes to the game!
    • Complete UI overhaul with new designs
    • Replaced all grayboxed assets with static meshes
    • Some static meshes have been textured already
  • Vision Glasses added with
    • Night vision (Careful not to use it in bright areas)
    • Thermal vision
  • Added new player states
    • Trespassing
      • Areas are marked as either public or private
      • Players in private areas are marked as trespassing
      • If you're caught by an NPC while in this state, you will be considered a threat
    • Illegal Actions
      • Certain actions are deemed 'illegal' or suspicious
      • NPCs will react accordingly to your behavior
    • Illegal Equipment
      • Similar to an illegal action, having certain items equipped is seen as suspicious
      • For example, the camera hack tablet is an illegal item and will prompt NPC reactions
      • Unequipping items is currently not an implemented feature in the game

Known bugs/issues

  • NPCs fall through the ground on client after being revived
  • Inventory can glitch if you drag it off screen
  • Inventory disappears if you drag it and let go while it's hovering over another UI widget (i.e. health bar)
  • Main menu will not display profile picture for joining client. Will still display it in single player mode.
  • Guards can revive NPCs through walls
  • Client cannot finish levels (even if they have the required item)
  • Client cannot cut power (Can change power states though)
  • Sometimes the equipped item buttons will override menu interactions and prevent the UI from being used. If this proves to be a constant issue, we recommend changing your primary and alternative action bindings.
  • Butler can "unstuck" through walls

How to play multiplayer:

Double Agent multiplayer functionality is peer to peer connection via steam

Instructions to host:

  1. Open game to main menu
  2. Click the plus(+) icon next to your steam profile picture in the top right corner
  3. This should open up a list of your friends with a corresponding "invite" button
  4. The game is only built to support 2 players, the host and 1 client: please keep that in mind
  5. After your friend joins, you should receive confirmation in the top left corner in red that your friend has connected to your session
  6. Click "New Game" and you'll join the game with your friend

Instructions to join a host:

  1. Have the game open to the main menu
  2. Then open up the steam overlay after your friend has invited you
  3. After you've successfully connected, you'll lose the "New Game" button on your screen
  4. Wait for the host to start the game
