Cornered Keep
A downloadable game for Windows
Supersonic Crab submission for AI and Games Jam 2022!
Cornered Keep follows the struggle of a single surviving Dwarf engineer isolated on the battlement of a fortress.
A united front of Gnomes, Fairies, and Orcs have started attacking the fortress after the Dwarven army had left for an unrelated battle against a kingdom of Elves.
The other remaining Dwarves died in the initial attack leaving the engineer to defend the fortress alone until the army returns.
Using scrap metal and magic looted from fallen enemies the engineer must build bots and defenses to stay alive.
How to play:
- You control a Dwarf engineer that is waiting for their friends to arrive while defending a fortress from Orcs and Gnomes.
- The game is played with just a mouse, you click the different crafting benches and weapons to use them then click again on the field in front of you to attack or place objects.
- Crafting benches make each of the placeables; mines, The MDP (Magic Disrupting Pulse), walls, and spikes.
- Mines explode when an enemy steps on them, the MDP damages and slows down enemies, walls can temporarily stop enemies, and spikes do damage over time but will get destroyed.
- The Dwarf commands robots to place down these traps but they can be destroyed. If a robot gets destroyed before it can place the trap the trap gets destroyed as well.
- Repair robots can be built with magic to fortify the door to buy you extra time.
- Placing traps costs metal and/or magic which are collected with the Harpoon which can be found on the top right of the fortress battlement.
- Enemies will drop metal or magic, Orcs drop metal while Gnomes drop magic.
- You are able to attack your enemies with the cannon that is on the left side of the fortress battlement, there is a cooldown so use it wisely.
Known issues/To fix:
- The current build contains debug info and hitboxes in lieu of missing features
- No highlighting for interactables
- Missing planned Gnome behaviour, Gnome tanks, Fairies, defence robots, collection robots, and Dwarf rescue sequence (a win screen with concept art is in place of the sequence)
- Missing some sound effects
- Missing planned weapons
- Orcs might slip past the door when they shouldn't while chasing bots
- In-game "How to play" is hard to read
